About Sky Management and Marketing Inc.
Alan Philips and Josh Shames were born and raised in Great Neck, NY. Starting at a young age, Alan worked within the hospitality business with a focus on food and beverage. After spending their high school years of working learning the industry, Alan was able to land a Culinary Assistant position at the original Spago in Los Angeles in 1996. While Josh promoted events in Manhattan, Alan spent the summer living in Los Angeles and working within the kitchen at all the positions, from prepping ingredients to working the line. After working for Wolfgang Puck and his staff, he personally agreed to write Alan a glowing recommendation for and he returned to New York.

In 1997, Alan and Josh experienced their first nightclubs in Manhattan through promotional events and a management assistant position at Cheetah Nightclub. Through this position at Cheetah, he had a fateful meeting with Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss then small nightclub promoters, now owners of Marquee (NY), Tao (Las Vegas), and Strategic Group Inc. This relationship began an active desire to work in and market hospitality products which led to the creation of Sky Management and Marketing Inc. That year, Alan and Josh incorporated Sky and began to market weekly and monthly events to our peers in Manhattan nightclubs such as Chaos, Cheetah, System, Limelight, and Tunnel. Around the same period, Alan was also accepted to attend Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, the foremost program for the hospitality industry and Josh into University of Massatushets to focus on his passion Entreprenuership. Throughout the next four years; Sky actively marketed and promoted nightlife events in Manhattan and Miami during the summer and holidays. We also worked abroad on events and projects in Acapulco, Mexico and Florence, Italy. Through out this period we continued to network within the industry and maintain a close association with Tepperberg and Strauss. In 2001, he began full time work with Sky; marketing, managing, and operating weekly and special events in Manhattan as well as many other major cities within the United States.

As Alan expands the Sky operation and focuses on the business development and implementation of strategic plans, Josh maintain and grow the fortitude of the Sky operation with weekly and special events and a continued high level of execution for our valued clients. This combination of understanding the clients desires, spotting trends in their infancy, and a strong commitment to the basic fundamentals of execution; make Sky a entity uniquely prepared to flourish in the modern business climate.

Currently, Sky is one of the premiere nightlife companies in the country with a distinct focus on the development, launch, and continued maintenance of hospitality products. We focus on event marketing, hospitality consulting, and management of partnered hospitality products. Each of these specialties comprises different aspects of marketing and hospitality but synergize to make Sky inimitable as a business entity. Sky is able to fully service clients by developing, launching, marketing, and sustaining hospitality products such as events, restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs in all major metropolitan markets. Sky currently operates in New York City, Miami, Atlantic City, Southhampton & Easthampton, Dallas, and Las Vegas.

Sky also maintains a powerful and extensive network and database (50k plus) that allows us to swiftly mobilize trades and large numbers of people for our projects. These contacts are divided amongst email, direct mail, instant-message, phone, and other forms of new media communication.

Hospitality Consulting - Sky consults with hospitality industry businesses (restaurants, lounges, nightclubs, and hotels) to increase revenues through more effective operating procedures, marketing campaigns, public relations, and promotions.

Event Marketing - Marketing, promotion, and production of weekly and special events. Sky handles all aspects of the clients needs from promotion, guest-list, acquiring sponsorship and talent, to hiring entertainment and managing finances.

Management of Hospitality Products – Sky is currently working with partners to develop hospitality projects in major metropolitan markets.
